![]() With this logic, it's convenient to keep in mind the type of weapon you use when choosing the suits and cards you'll equip. The shotgun works best from a distance and is ideal for anyone who wants to keep enemies at bay. The hammer is the opposite, replacing speed with brute force. Swords, for example, enable short-range gameplay thanks to the fast, agile attacks Victor can perform. Having either a sword, a shotgun, or a hammer equipped will determine your style of play and combat. Victor Vran is also a character who relies heavily on his weapons. All you can change in cosmetic terms are the suits (unlike other games, there are no pieces of armour but rather complete outfits designed for different styles of play). For starters, you can only play as Victor Vran, and you can't customise his look. There are, however, some limitations that you should be aware of. In this genre, what matters most is the crushing of monsters, exploring dungeons, finding loot, and evolving your character. You will find some moments of humour, but Victor Vran isn't a game for story, but that's ok, the same can be said of most action-RPGs, including Diablo III. This doesn't really feel like a living world, but rather as if characters were placed in places purposely to talk to the player (although we'd argue that this is a criticism you could level at the whole genre, even if we have seen it done better elsewhere). As you go along, you'll meet other characters who will help you in your quest, but the storyline isn't particularly interesting, and the characters you meet aren't either. ![]() The basis of the story follows Victor Vran, a hunter of demons and supernatural creatures, who's trying to find a missing colleague. Each time Victor opens his mouth, all we can think about is "oh, right that's Geralt's voice," which turned out to be a great distraction from what was actually being said. The tone and rhythm the actor uses for Victor Vran is very similar to the one used for Geralt, and if you've played as many hours of The Witcher as we have, the chances are you'll immediately be taken out of the game as soon as you hear him speak. Who is Doug Cockle, we hear you ask? Well, he's Geralt's voice actor from the Witcher series, and that turns out to be a downside. ![]() Victor Vran is essentially an unlicensed Van Helsing, here voiced by Doug Cockle. As such, it's a good alternative if you like games like Diablo, that said, it's not fantastic. It's an action-RPG that plays out from an isometric perspective, where you decimate hordes of enemies as you search for the best loot. Victor Vran had its original release on PC in 2015, but Haemimont's RPG is only now coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, being adapted for console in a similar manner to Diablo III.

Then pour over ice, making sure to strain out any pulp that from the lemons or limes. If you don’t have a shaker, a small pitcher or even a liquid measuring cup works. Cocktails like this are best served super cold! So at the very least make sure you serve your whiskey sour over plenty of ice. We usually mix everything in a large pot or bowl with a whisk by hand or in a pitcher with a screw-on-top that we can shake without creating a mess. Mix the lemon juice, sugar, and water until the sugar is completely dissolved. I like the shaker because I can have ice in there and make sure that everything is super cold. Start by juicing 4 or 5 lemons to get 1 cup of juice. As long as you can mix together all of the ingredients and pour into a glass, you are good. I like to use a martini shaker to make this recipe, but it really doesn’t matter what you use. It is worth squeezing a little fruit to get this drink, trust me! Since there are just a few ingredients, you want to make sure they are all high quality. You want to make sure to use real lemon and lime juice, not the stuff from the bottle. Just a couple ingredients come together to make a tasty cocktail. This whiskey sour recipe is simple and refreshing. It is traditionally served over ice, in a square glass with an orange slice, lemon rind, and maraschino cherry for garnish. You will sometimes see it with an egg white foam on top. Over the years lime juice has been added. It is a classic mixed drink with lemon juice, sugar, and whiskey. ![]() ![]() Drinks like a Gin & Tonic and French 75 that have been around forever! I don’t know much about it though, so I feel like quality and picking a flavor profile you like is important. Serve it up or on the rocks, with or without egg white, and whatever garnish speaks to you. Many folks will also argue that a sour should be served up in a coupe glass, but presentation is the last step in customizing your personal best whiskey sour. Strain into an old fashioned or rocks glass. Shake well until very cold, about 20 seconds. If you want something a little texturally richer, an egg white is a wonderful addition, but there’s nothing wrong with skipping it if you’re just looking for a refresher on a warm day. Add whiskey and Stirrings Sour Mix to a shaker filled with ice. Purists will sometimes demand egg white in a whiskey sour, but history has repeatedly shown us that plenty of sours were shaken and sipped without this accoutrement, including the sours found in the aforementioned first cocktail book. Transfer to a container with a tight-fitting lid. Remove from the heat cool to room temperature. Reduce heat simmer, uncovered, until sugar is dissolved, 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Then just keep your lemon fresh (within 12 hours of juicing is best) and your syrup simple (just equal parts white sugar and filtered water.) In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water. Some great sippers don’t jibe great with citrus, and some dusty whiskeys you might normally pass over seem to explode when mixed with fresh lemon. ![]() Personally, I like a solid bourbon that doesn’t get in the way of things but also doesn’t lack character (Buffalo Trace is a go-to), but this classic cocktail is a wonderful vehicle for exploring a wide range of whiskeys. Today, from the most highfalutin cocktail church to your second cousin’s wedding, the whiskey sour is waiting in the wings to brighten your affairs. The simple combination of whiskey, sugar, and fresh lemon juice is one of the most important developments of early mixed drinks and has managed to transcend centuries while spawning hundreds of variations. And while you might think Jones is doing motion capture here, the actor actually had to dress up for the part. In most films, Jones is very expressive with his arms and fingers, but in Fantastic Four, he was far more reserved, playing the Surfer as a thoughtful, understated cosmic creature that skates through the sky while remaining totally Zen. ![]() Of course, there was a drawback to playing three parts-Jones had to spend five hours in makeup for each character, which has got to be hell, boy. Sporting enormous wings and a freak show face, Jones gives an incredibly eerie performance, gesturing with his incredibly long arms and gesticulating with his snakelike fingers. The actor also starred as the amphibious-looking Chamberlain and, more notably, as the Angel of Death. And this was a pretty big deal for Jones, as it allowed him to get more dramatic than most of his other performances, since Abe falls head-over-flippers in love with the character of Princess Nuala.īut Sapien wasn't the only part Jones played in the sequel. Thankfully, in Hellboy II: The Golden Army, Jones was given the opportunity to use his own voice, making the character completely his own. From the cock of Abe's head to his fish man walk, Jones excels at bringing the character to life. In the first Hellboy, the character was voiced by David Hyde Pierce, but that's Doug Jones you see onscreen, bringing Abe Sapien to life. God created me just as I am for a very specific purpose, and I think that's true for all of us." Talking with Vulture, the actor confessed,"It took me until my 40s before I could fully embrace this tall, skinny, gangly person that I am. Still, despite his monstrous success, Jones admits that he's dealt with body issues for most of his life, and he's finally come to accept his unusual frame. I never set out to do costume work." But instead of turning into a sitcom star, he started working in commercials-including playing " Mac Tonight" in the bizarre 1980s McDonalds campaign that involved Jones wearing a gigantic moon mask and playing a piano.īut soon enough, Jones left commercials behind for a career working with the likes of Guillermo del Toro, Joss Whedon, and Spike Jonze. "I was a goofy fellow who related to Jerry Lewis and Dick Van Dyke and Gilligan's Island," he told Buzzfeed. He co-starred with Robert Picardo in one of those appearances, and was cast by Mary Jo Slater in all episodes.įor his role as Saru, Jones was nominated three times for a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor on a Television Series, winning the second one in 2019 and the third one in 2021.Jones first got into show business by training and working as a mime, eventually moving to Los Angeles, where he hoped to become a comical sidekick on TV shows. On television, Jones appeared as various alien creatures in The Outer Limits revival series (1995-2002), which was narrated by Kevin Conway. He played two demonic Imps in the 2005 movie adaptation of Doom, which also starred Karl Urban and Dwayne Johnson. He also played the Faun and the Pale Man in del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth (2006), and the Silver Surfer in the 2007 Marvel Comics film Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Typically cast as creatures in science fiction and fantasy projects, Jones is best known for his collaborations with Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, who cast him as Abe Sapien in Hellboy (2004) and Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008), opposite Ron Perlman as the title character. In 1998, Jones played the monstrous Mother Bug in the comedy horror film Bug Buster, which also featured George Takei and James Doohan.
